Topic 1 – Hacker Group FIN10 Attacks Canadian Casinos and Mining Companies
- FIN10 is the name given to a mysterious group or individual responsible for high profile attacks against Canadian casinos and mining companies by Mandiant and FIreEye. Who is the group or individual and what really motivates them to target Canadian casinos and mining companies.
Topic 2 – The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs.
- This group has been led by professor Ron Diebert who has been described as Canada’s Hacker King by The Globe and Mail (https://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/rob-magazine/why-canadas-hacker-king-is-very-afraid/article34471769/).
- The Citizen Lab is focusing on human rights and surveillance that employs hackers to examine technologies used by nations to spy on their own citizens and commit cyber espionage.
Topic 3 – Cherry Blossom, the newest CIA hacking tool to be leaked!
- Cherry Blossom is used to exploit vulnerabilities in the firmware of wireless routers and access points and replaces the firmware with its own custom firmware to monitor the internet activity of anyone who uses that router or access point.
